Believing that God was leading them to start a new church, a group of fifty-five met for the first time in June 14,1979. The Church began as a mission church under the sponsorship of Second Baptist Church in Goldsboro, NC. The first meetings were held in the Legion Hall in Pine Level, NC; but after a sudden increase in attendance, the group began renting the Barnes School in Rosewood, NC. The church continued to meet at the school until 1980 when God opened the door for Trinity Baptist to purchase a piece of land and build a new sanctuary at the present location of 136 Aulander Road, Goldsboro, NC.

In August 1979, the mission church was organized as Trinity Baptist Church and called Robert (Bob) Decker to be pastor. Pastor Decker served until 1982. Trinity called Pastor James Wilhelm as their pastor and he served for six months. Trinity called Pastor Decker to be their pastor once again and he served the second time until 1992. After Pastor Decker finished his second time serving, Trinity called Pastor Duane Rush in 1992. Pastor Rush served until 2010. In 2010 Pastor David Toulson was called to be pastor of Trinity and served until 2017. In 2019, Pastor John Bjorling was called and served until early 2021. In October of 2021, Pastor Justin Payton was called to be pastor of Trinity.

Trinity Baptist Church is an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. We are thankful for the many wonderful memories and are seeking what the Lord has for us and how to better represent Him until the end of the age. To God be the Glory!
